The challenge

A platform for managing sports tournaments and events.

The organization of sports events are complicated. They involve Clubs, Players, payments and creating schedules in one place. The challenge of this project was to create an entire platform where the user could manage all the aspects of an event in one single place in few steps.

Metodology

Steps of product design

Discovery

the first step was understand the problems the platform need to solve and the features need to have.

Ideation

After understand the product, the work was to create a flow with the journey of user and a sitemap with how the steps need to be.

Prototypes

with the flows mapped, I was able to draw the wireframes and validate the forms. once was approved, I created the final prototypes.

Test and Handoff

with the prototypes ready was possible to do some use tests and map the gaps before development. once it's refined I managed the handoff to develop.
Discovery phase

What is it and how does it work?

To format the product, it is important to understand what problem it will solve, what are the essential features for an MVP and define a product roadmap.
o-creation workshop sessions were held with stakeholders to understand the flows that the platform should have. Once the flows were understood, they were divided into 8 main stages of the journey so that the user could organize all the stages of organizing a sporting event by himself.

Ideation

What do we need to have on each page and what is the best way?

Dividing the flow into steps makes each part of the journey visible in detail. Thus, it is possible to understand what types of components will be needed.
The platform therefore would have 7 main steps: a plan selection page with the initial costs of the event(1), followed by a choice of options(2) and a summary of the purchase before checkout and payment (3). After payment, the setup page of the sporting event containing all the rules and venues of the event (4), followed by the page to insert the participating clubs and their players (5). Finally, a page for choosing the format of the competition (6) and the schedule generated by the platform with the games and their details (7).

Wireframes and Final prototypes

Before create the final components I created wireframe versions of the entire platform to validate the required component types and the feasibility of Flow.
After validating the wireframes I started to create the final prototype with the final components and the desired interactions. To speed up the construction of the pages, I also developed a style guide with the main components and tokens of the platform's design system.

Setup tournament, Add Clubs, define formats and create schedule

The final prototypes were tested with potential users of the platform and validated with usability tests. All tokens and components were developed in auto-layout and ready to be used in building new product features.
